Community Involvement

Getting involved by volunteering is one of the fastest ways to become part of the community.

There are many organizations that contribute to the quality of life by serving the needs of others.
Below is a listing of some of those groups, as well as the type of volunteers they need.

Allen Animal Shelter

The Animal Shelter welcomes volunteers who would like to assist in the day-to-day care of the animals. The Animal Shelter also accepts donations of gently used or new collars, leashes, toys, chew toys, treats, toenail clippers, catnip, pet food, pet bowls, ani-mal shampoo, dog dip, bleach, laundry soap, brushes, combs, flea shampoo and spray, spray bottles, towels, and blankets.

All Community Outreach

Through the Meals on Wheels & More program, ACO volunteers deliver warm smiles along with warm meals to homebound individuals each weekday. Volunteers’ helping hands and donations of gently used clothing, furniture and household items help to stock the ACO Resale Shop. The loss of employment, a family illness and unpaid bills can all cause a family to break down and create a feeling of helplessness. Help to obtain the skills to rebuild lives is available at All Community Outreach.
